U14 Team - At a Glance

The U14 Alpine Program is for athletes born in 2011 and 2012 who are ready to push their ski racing to the next level. Our experienced coaches provide training across all alpine disciplines, with a focus on developing strong technical skills, athleticism, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of skiing.

For Full-Time athletes, the season kicks off in August with dryland training four days a week. Once winter arrives, they’re on snow up to four days each week—two on weekends and two evening “Lights on Chute” sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Most training takes place at Eldora, with additional early-season days at Winter Park and Loveland.

The Part-Time program offers a flexible schedule for athletes balancing skiing with other sports or commitments, while still giving them access to high-level coaching and race support. Whichever track they choose, every athlete benefits from a well-rounded program designed to help them succeed both on and off the racecourse.

  • EMSC offers a full-time and part-time option for U14 athletes.

Meet Our Head U14 Coach

Mike Wolfson

I moved to Colorado in 1991 and have been involved in ski education ever since. While being a full-time ski instructor at Copper Mountain and getting great training, I decided to coach for the local Copper Mountain Ski Team and see if it was for me. It was and boy did I enjoy it. After coaching at Copper, I moved on to work at Crested Butte, Team Summit, and Ski and Snowboard Club Vail among others. I mixed in some more years with the Copper Mountain Ski and Ride School teaching kids and adults as well as working as a supervisor for 2 seasons.

Along with skiing, my wife and I enjoy spending time riding mountain and road bikes as well as taking our dogs on mountain bike rides and hikes. I like to play soccer when I can and I dabble in some rock

climbing as well. If we’re not doing something close to home, you’ll find us traveling around the state in our RV and camping.

We live in Black Hawk, just 6 miles from Nederland and we are very excited to be here. We are very happy to be able to enjoy the skiing and other outdoor activities in the area and be able to take advantage of the fun and cultural things that the Boulder/Denver areas have to offer.

Lastly, I’m a level 3 PSIA certified instructor and a level 300 coach with US Ski and Snowboard. I am very interested in and involved with coach education, and I hope to be of help to any coaches who have a desire to learn more about their craft.
