
Freestyle & Freeride Snowboard Team
The Freestyle & Freeride team offers diverse coaching for both Freestyle focused & Freeride focused athletes. We train in the park and on the big mountain- this gives our athletes an edge on the competition! This program is designed to to fit the needs of competitive athletes and for those just looking to improve their skills in a fun environment. We offer transportation from Boulder to Eldora and other Resorts. Our team has dryland training year round and you can train up to 6 days a week! EMSC offers a one and two day option for the freestyle & freeride snowboard team.
Both include travel days to Ikon resorts, dryland training options and coach support at USASA & IFSA competitions.
Training takes place from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and is on Saturday, Sunday or both.
The two day program is highly recommended for athletes looking to compete.

Athletes should be comfortable on blue terrain and have the ability to ride in a smooth and controlled manner.
Athletes do not need to be proficient in the park or in off piste terrain to join.
This program is for athletes ages 8-18

7:15 am- Shuttle leaves Justsice Center (1777 6th St, Boulder,CO)
8:00 am - Arrival at Eldora - Breakfast/Snack, water, restroom break - Gear Up for AM training (boots, gloves, facemask, helmet/goggles)
8:30 am - Head out to snow for coach greeting -Warm-up lap/Group stretch/Warm-up lap
9:15 am - 1st AM Training: Introduction of skill for the day and explanation of relation
10:05 am - Snack, water, restroom break
10:15 am - 2nd AM Training: Execution of skill for the day
12:00 pm - Lunch, water, restroom break
12:30 pm - Gear up for PM training
12:45 pm - Stretch/morning recap
12:55 pm - Get in line for lift
1:05 pm - PM Training: Skill for the day and its incorporation to freeriding
(aka riding with no agenda…just having fun)
2:15 pm - Snack and/or restroom break
3:00 pm - Full day recap and cool down
3:30 pm - Parent pick-up/ Van Heads down to office
4:00 pm - Van arrives at Justice Center

Eldora Mountain is our home base and main training ground. We meet at 8:30 by the ski rack in front of Timbers Lodge.
This team also does travel to Ikon resorts to train for Freeride & Slopestyle Competitions.

Athletes who plan on competing or doing travel days are encouraged to purchase an Ikon Pass.
an Eldora Season Pass is a great option for those who wish to just train at home.

First year athletes in this program will get a season long intro to the world of Freestyle & Freeride Snowboarding!
Competitive athletes have the option to train specifically for Freestyle or Freeride snowboarding. There will be a more individualized plan made by your coach that will set you up for success.
Freestyle is all about tricks and style. Athletes will learn how to ride terrain park features, Park etiquette, Slide Boxes and Rails, Jumps, Spins & learn about Rail jams & slopestyle competitions.
Freeriding is about sending big mountain lines! Athletes will learn about IFSA Freeride competitions and the judging categories
Dryland Training takes place of the snow. Our athletes have the option add in strength, conditioning and air awareness training. We also Utilize Snobahn, a state of the art indoor snow sports training facility!
Our coaches follow the PSIA and USASA standards for teaching progression.

Athletes will receive coach support at all USASA and IFSA events in the Rocky mountain series + national/ world championship

This program offers van transportation from Boulder to the resort!
The team also does trips day trips to other resorts, multi day trips for competition and fun weekend long trips to explore and shred!

Team members are expected to complete 4 work credits worth of volunteering or $400
2 day athletes need 5 work credits or $500
Meet our Coaches
Coach David
Program Director & Head Coach
His coaching started in NC, where he was an instructor and head coach of the Beech Mountain Academy. He also worked at Eldora as an instructor and a trainer. David has 9 years of coaching experience and this will be his 5th year with EMSC. His mission is simple; Provide professional coaching to athletes in the front range for kids of all backgrounds.

Coach Van
Snowboard Coach
Van started coaching at the Beech Mountain Academy in NC and has since then coached at Liberty Snowflex Camp in VA and High Cascade Summer Camp in OR. This will be his 4th year coaching EMSC. Van is also one of our dryland training coaches. We are lucky to have someone with his experience lead the next generation of snowboard athletes.
Coach Ali
Snowboard Coach
Ali has been coaching with EMSC for 3 seasons. She is a very active member in the women’s snowboard community and also coaches at Lleky’s women snowboarding events. Ali is an awesome role model for the young lady shredders as she is an active competitor in local rail jams and snowboard events!
